How to Stay Grounded

How to Stay Grounded

Queen,  Have you ever heard of the saying “Hope for the best but prepare for the worst”? If I’m being honest, I’ve used it a few times. The problem with this statement is it isn’t really full of hope at all. It’s a cop out just in case something good doesn’t happen, we can say: “well I knew something bad was going to happen anyway.” It’s a coping mechanism for when we don’t get the outcome we were hoping for. Here’s the thing about hope: we have to place it in God and not an outcome. Hope is the anchor of...

Love Yourself

Love Yourself

Queens,     We’re commanded to love others as we love ourselves. I think we forget about the second part of this commandment: as we love ourselves. Self-love is so important but why do we put it off? Sometimes it’s easier to make time for other people and things before ourselves. There are times we even treat other people kinder than we treat ourselves. Queen,  We’re not in control of everything that happens to us. Life isn’t set up that way. However, that doesn’t mean we should stop living boldly. We shouldn’t let the fear of messing up keep us from enjoying life and trying new things. God  created us. The scripture says “He called us by name.” We belong to Him. So while we don’t have control over everything that happens to us, we belong to The One who controls our destinies. If you mess up, know that God is going to make it work in your favor. If you’re afraid or anxious...

He’s Our Source

Queen,  Need faith? God’s got it. Need courage? God’s got it. He is your source. Sometimes it easy to forget that. Whenever a situation happens, there’s a tendency to go immediately to our friends or parents first. While there’s nothing wrong with going to others for advice and guidance, it can become a dependency. When there’s a dependency on other’s opinions, we leave ourselves open to become disappointed. Even if it’s not intentional, people will always disappoint us. Have you ever called your best friend needing to vent and she didn’t answer?   When we become dependent on what others...

Who Are You Going to Believe?

Who Are You Going to Believe?

Queens, We all have a voice track that plays in our heads about ourselves. What does yours sound like? Is it a kind one or is it harsh? Is it a loving or condemning one? If it’s a harsh, mean, condemning one, know that it didn’t come from God. In Genesis 3:11, God is having a conversation with Adam. He and Eve just disobeyed God and are feeling ashamed. God is looking for Adam and Eve. When Adam responds to God’s call, he says that they are hiding because they’re naked. God responds with a simple question: “Who told you...
