How to Stay Grounded

Posted by D M on

Queen,

Have you ever heard of the saying “Hope for the best but prepare for the worst”? If I’m being honest, I’ve used it a few times. The problem with this statement is it isn’t really full of hope at all. It’s a cop out just in case something good doesn’t happen, we can say: “well I knew something bad was going to happen anyway.” It’s a coping mechanism for when we don’t get the outcome we were hoping for. Here’s the thing about hope: we have to place it in God and not an outcome. Hope is the anchor of our soul. When we put our hope in an outcome, we’re anchoring ourselves to something that may or may not happen. When we anchor ourselves to God, we’re anchoring ourselves to someone who is good all of the time. If we place our hope in certain outcomes, we’re setting ourselves up to be disappointed. When we place our hope in God, we’re trusting that He has us in the palm of His hands. We’re trusting that He loves us even when we go through rough times. Put your hope in God queen. Stay grounded in who He is. Ask Him to help you stay grounded in His promises and He will.
